“It’s a holly, jolly Christmas” may not be true if you’re experiencing an unexpected pregnancy during the holidays. Psychology Today reported that 89% of U.S. adults feel stressed during this time of year. Add an unexpected pregnancy, and the holidays may be even more stressful.

At the Pregnancy Resource Center, we never want you to feel like you’re facing the holidays alone. Being pregnant can cause you to feel isolated, but we’re here to support and care for you, especially during the holidays.

If you’d like to speak with someone before the Christmas festivities begin, please call us at (580) 536-4040 or text us at (405) 362-6008. Here are a few tips that may help.

Be Aware of Common Pregnancy Symptoms

There are a few pregnancy symptoms that may make it more challenging to attend holiday gatherings. Although every woman’s pregnancy is unique, typical pregnancy symptoms usually begin within weeks.

For instance, nausea with or without vomiting, fatigue, moodiness, and food aversions could all affect your participation. Give yourself freedom to bow out of events or leave early, if necessary.

Your health should be your top priority, and getting the rest you need is essential.

Are Your Family and Friends Aware of Your Pregnancy?

If your pregnancy is unexpected, you may be deciding whether to share the news with family and friends. News of an unexpected pregnancy is never easy to share. No matter how supportive your family may be, they might be shocked, concerned, and disappointed.

Perhaps only you and your partner are aware, or you’ve only told a few family members or close friends. Depending on your relationship with them, you may need to set some boundaries about how much you want to share with others.

This is your story, and you should be the only one to provide details or answer questions. You don’t need to share if you’re not ready. To avoid your pregnancy becoming the talk of the party, let those you’ve told know that the subject is off-limits.

Have You Confirmed Your Pregnancy?

Although the pregnancy test is positive and your period is late, you should get confirmation that your pregnancy is developing. How do you confirm a pregnancy? With a free and confidential

medical-grade pregnancy test from the Pregnancy Resource Center.

If your test result is positive, we may recommend a free limited ultrasound for you. There is more to know about your pregnancy before you begin sharing the news. Let us help you get the information you need.
